Agia Galini Greece

Galini or Agia Galini is a village 15 kilometers east of Ierapetra. It is part of the municipality of Makrys Gialos on the island of Crete, in Greece. It has become a tourist center. Thanks to its idyllic position, Galini was transformed in the seventies and eighties of a small fishing village into a center of mass tourism. It has numerous hotels, guesthouses, taverns, bars and clubs, as well as a holiday camp. Apart from tourism, agriculture, including greenhouse production, forms an important source of income for the region around Galini. Opposite the coast are the islands of Paximadia. In the vicinity there is a military zone with restricted access.
